Dr. Amy Prochnow
Dr. Amy Prochnow graduated from Iowa State University in 1999 and is one of the three owners of Hoof and Paw. She has been with the clinic since graduation from Iowa State and practices small animal medicine. Having grown up in Iowa, she now considers herself a full fledged Wisconsinite after more than 25 years in Menomonie! With her daughters now on their own she is looking forward to travelling to visit them when she and her husband can get away from their farm. Dr. Amy also enjoys spending time with family, travelling, and getting out on the town occasionally for a show or sporting event, though she has also developed an appreciation of staying in on the rare occasion.
Dr. Jason Westcott
Dr. Jason Westcott, clinic owner, is a 1999 Iowa State grad. Dr. Westcott joined the clinic in 2000. He enjoys practicing large animal medicine, but you will find him in the clinic every so often working on companion animals. He has three children, Hunter, Audrey and Tobey. Dr. Westcott enjoys motorcycling, hunting, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Nick Place
Dr. Nick is a 2011 graduate of the University of Minnesota. He joined our clinic immediately following graduation and in 2021 became our 3rd owner. He has worked for the practice for 14 years. He enjoys working with dairy and beef cattle, small ruminants and small animals. Nick and Sarah have two children, Noah and Madi and 2 dogs Bolt and Trax. He enjoys hunting, fishing and camping in the great outdoors, spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Richelle Ackerman
Dr. Ackerman joined Hoof and Paw in 2017. She grew up in Houston, MN, doing her undergraduate work in Iowa at Waldorf College and Simpson College. She then attended the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, studying mixed animal, but has practiced exclusively small animal since 2002. In her free time you can find her wandering the outdoors and spending time with her family (including 3 dogs, 2 cats, 9 chickens, 2 goats, as well as her husband and son).
Dr. David Pillman
Dr. Pillman, a 2019 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine, joined Hoof & Paw in January, 2023, working with both small and large animals. Prior to that he spent 5 years in the USMC infantry and attended UW-River Falls for his bachelor’s degree in animal science. He was also a part of the Rugby team, acting as a Lock on the pitch. To keep his days at work interesting and challenging, Dr. Pillman enjoys working with a wide range of animals from farm animals to cats and dogs, and even zoo animals. He also has a passion for animal reproduction and is happy to help our clients with any questions they may have. In his free time he grows strawberries and has a wide variety of animals on his farm.
Dr. Savannah Heath
Dr. Savannah Heath is a 2024 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, having previously completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Science at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She grew up in the Eau Claire/Menomonie area and is excited to be back home. Dr. Heath has always had a soft spot for horses, but enjoys working with all of the large and small animals at the clinic. In her free time, you can usually find her watching volleyball (go Badgers!), reading, cross-stitching, or doing puzzles.
Dr. Evangeline Behling
Dr. Angie Behling grew up in the Menomonie area and is a 2016 graduate of Iowa State University. She has worked in mixed animal practice in Wisconsin and the surrounding areas since graduation and especially enjoys surgery, working with clients on behavioral issues, and helping maintain the human-animal bond. When not working, Dr. Behling enjoys spending time with family, friends and critters; reading; and meandering around finding out of the way spots and waterfalls. Having grown up on a local dairy farm, she is happy to be back in the area!
